She joined the station in 1998. Bookman previously worked at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia as a weekend anchor and reporter from 1989 to 1998. Bookman also served as weekend anchor at both Raleigh, North Carolina’s WRAL-TV and in Beaumont, Texas’ KFDM.
In Addition, Sandra has notably won three Emmy Awards for her reporting including Olympic Coverage and the aftermath of the Valuejet Airlines Crash in the Everglades; ValuJet Airlines Flight 592 was a frequently booked flight from Miami to Atlanta in the United States. On May 11, 1996, the ValuJet Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-9 working the route experienced malfunctions and sadly crashed into the Florida Everglades just a few minutes after taking off from Miami.
